Configuration

When you first logged into the app you would need to configure your settings.

You are able to go in and change these at any time by going to settings which is at the top of your web app or for your iphone, it will appear once you click on the menu bar and scroll down a bit, and then you will see some options. Look for Configuration Settings and click on that.

Diabetes Type: Please select which type of Diabetes you currently have. Some people are Both Type 1 and Type 2. In that situation, choose Type 2.

Carb Type: Please select how you prefer to measure your carb intake, based on the foods you will input "carbs" or "net carbs". Net carbs is the amount of carbohydrates you eat, minus the amount of fiber you eat in a given meal (Net Carbs - Fiber). If you choose "net carbs" the system will automatically calculate this for you and the macronutrient circles on your home page will reflect the option you chose.

Blood Tracker Units: Choose if you want to measure blood sugar units in mg/dl or Mmol.

Weight Units: Choose if you want to measure in pounds (lb) or kilograms (kg).

Height Units: Choose if you want to measure your height in feet and inches or centimeters.

Calorie Units: Choose if you prefer to measure in calories or kilojoules.

Medication Reminder: Choose if you want automatic reminders set up for your medication list and time. If you use our app on the iphone, reminders will come in the form of an email and pop up reminder on your phone. Once you input your medications and supplements that you take in the medication section, along with the times you usually take them, the app will send you a gentle automatic reminder at the times you specified.

Are you taking insulin? Please mark "Yes" or "No

Track Insulin: Please mark if you want to track your insulin intake. If you do, then you will see circles on the home page telling you your recent dosage in units along with how much insulin you have taken for the day. You will also have access to the insulin calculator if you use our web app, or if you are a premium member of the Iphone app.

Sliding Scale: Please choose if your insulin is a sliding scale, "Yes" or "No". Sliding scale is for people whose insulin units change regularly based on their blood sugar scores.

Dietary Preferences: Please mark any or all of special diets that you prefer to follow when managing your Diabetes. Depending on which ones you choose, this will determine which web site links that show up on your app for you when looking for Diabetes recipes.

With our web app, or the premium version on the iphone app, you can look up specific recipes and then "cut" and "paste" them into our recipe section to find out the nutritional value of the recipe. If you have no preferences, just choose "General".

Your Goals

Current height: Please input your current height. The system defaults to feet an inches, but if you measure in centimeters, please go back to the "configuration page" to update your settings for this.

Current Weight: Please input your current weight.

Target weight: Please input the target weight that you would love to be at?

Weekly weight loss goal: Set a realistic goal that is achievable. DO you want to lose weight? If so, how many pounds do you want to lose weekly? Setting the goal to high can cause demotivation if you don't hit your goals and can also be unhealthy. A healthy goal is no more than 1-2lbs per week.

Macro Goals

Calories: Please input how many calories you think you should be consuming peaking, 1 pound is 3,500 calories. To lose 1 pound a week, you would want a calorie deficit of 3,500 calories each week. That means you'd need to eat 3500 calories fewer than you're using throughout the week. Typically, how this could happen is by cutting about 500 calories per day from what you are normally eating. Another option is to get enough exercise to burn an extra 500 calories per day. The best advice is to do some combination of the two. The reality is that the amount of calories you are eating daily is important, but what's more important is the nutrient density of those calories based on the types of food you are.

Carbohydrates: Please input the % of your calories that should be coming from carbohydrates. This can vary for each user depending on which type of diet you are following and/or what your doctor recommends. Overall, it is generally suggested that people with Diabetes should be on a lower carbohydrate diet than the typical American diet.

Proteins: Please input the % of your calories that should be coming from proteins. This can vary for each user depending on which type of diet you are following and/or what your doctor recommends.

Fats: Please input the % of your calories that should be coming from fats. This can vary for each user depending on which type of diet you are following and/or what your doctor recommends. For diets that recommend higher fat %'s, you want to then ensure that the quality of your fats are from good nutritional sources.

The TOTAL %'s of of carbs, proteins, and fats needs to add up to 100%
